Hi Mr. Goldrod,
Please send me more info. I’m interested in getting start a new career in Cambodia.
Thanks
Sambath Mao
Hi Sambath,
Thanks for your message asking for information about a new career in Cambodia. Well, Cambodia is a developing nation, some say a tropical paradise. I think so too. The country has young dynamic demographics, and the government led by Samdech Techo Mr Hun Sen offers probably the best opportunities in Asia, if not the world. The economic outlook is favorable with a sustained year-on-year growth second only to China. On an individual basis, Cambodia is looking for people willing to assist, and offers a comfortable lifestyle for people wishing to make a difference and help shape the country’s future. You are welcome here, no strings attached. If you wish to take things a stage further and actually take part, we will assist you to the best of our ability. In the meantime please email your C.V and we will draw up some options for you to consider.
Have a great day

I just finished my two years in college and I am looking for a career in a foreign country. Please send me more information about teaching English in foreign countries. Thank you.
-Michaela Mao
Hi Michaela,
Fabulous!, I am happy you decided to put your excellent education to good use. Teaching English in foreign countries is a valuable addition to any C.V. and is a good start to an exciting career, here more than most. English is promoted here and everyone is eager to learn. The certificates we offer along with ATI in the U.S are recognized globally, so you have extensive backup, plus we have all the contacts you need to get started Michaela, We don’t even ask for course payment until you get your first job and are happy. Rachel came from the U.S recently, wanting to stay a year, work and explore, she stuck to the plan, lives uptown, rides a moto, nice and easy. If you let us know a bit more about your background and qualifications, things you enjoy doing etc we will help you. Is that fair? Have a great time.

Hello. Please send me information about the TESOL program. I’ve lived in Cambodia since 2004 and has worked with World Vision, Hagar International and currently with Paz Y Desarrollo.
I’ve done a lot of teaching in English, but not teaching English in particular. As I consider a career change, I’m thinking taking TESOL will be helpful.
Appreciate information in particular cost and duration as I am employed full time.
Best regards,
Rowena
Dear Rowena,
We’re happy to hear from you right here in Cambodia, we are almost neighbors! It’s tempting to believe in fate.
We notice you have worked for some of the best-known NGO’s here, so like us, you have a mind-set that wishes to make a difference, are we right?
You also mentioned you teach, so already you have the understanding and qualities associated with teaching English, something to feel good about, and makes the TESOL the next stage in your career.
You are right! TESOL/TEFL is helpful; in fact it is a requisite for our contacts. Some low-grade schools may accept a teacher based purely on being a native-speaker, however as ATI Cambodia has close ties with all the people of note, it is our duty to raise the standards of education, in line with their wishes, to benefit the whole of Cambodia..
Also, this particular TESOL/TEFL is accepted in all other countries, Japan, Korea, Europe, the U.S., and China for instance. English teachers are in huge demand. In fact there are 400 million people learning English in China alone! It’s the lingua-franca of the international community, as I am sure you already know. Your C.V will certainly be enhanced.
I understand you are working full time Rowena, so it could be tough for you to study and practice enough to gain the certificates; but along with my professor Dr. Dews, I may be able to help you, unlike other TESOL providers, who work to a fixed schedule.
Overall, you are required to formulate a plan of action, study and undertake observed teaching practice, develop an understanding of the fundamentals of English grammar, learn rapport and empathy etc etc for a total of 160 hours. This includes learning basic Khmer, and the customs here (so that part will be easy for you). We also study effective business techniques, so you will always have work and can pick the life-style that suits you.
As you are working full-time, you need to consider what time you do have available and on what days. Also, you must commit to that time Rowena, as the work that needs to be done, must be done, before we can issue your certificates. So the duration of the course is really down to you, although the total number of hours remains at 160 minus any credits, for instance if you already know Khmer or can produce lesson-plans. We will accept evidence that meets the criteria and credit your prior learning and experience.
This will affect the total cost, as it’s based on how many hours of personal guidance and instruction you require to pass the course. A ‘newbie’ would pay around $1200 – $1300, as they require a lot of attention and acclimatization to Cambodia. They would be unfamiliar with common practices here, and also would need help understanding personal security and safety. Our course also represents “….the best value for money….”, for instance Language Corps and others charge in excess of $2000, which we consider over-priced and ‘mass-market’. Truly intelligent people tend to come to us, because we actually hold all the best contracts Rowena. We also walk people through it, right up to getting their first job, which makes us extremely happy. We are thrilled when one of our students gets the work and the salary they wanted.
For instance, Rachel came from the U.S. She did the work, followed the plan we decided on, studied hard, got her certificates and letters of recommendation and then paid us our tuition fee AFTER she obtained her first job offer. She earned $1800 her first month so her money was well spent. She is happy, has an uptown apartment, drives her moto and has private clients.
To give you the same service as Rachel, it would probably better for us to meet, so we can learn a little more about your background, experience and more specifically what you hope to achieve. We could then draft an initial personal plan and schedule together. Can this be arranged? Please let us know by email or phone.
Thank you for making the decision to contact us Rowena, and we look forward to hearing some more about you.
Warm regards,
Mabon.
